|Dr J J Kabler|
MBBS (1987) DGM MrCGP FPcert
I qualified from Royal Free Hospital in London in 1986. I spent my training rotations in Jersey General Hospital. After completing my GP training I stayed on in Jersey for 1 year doing psychiatry at which point I came back to the UK and have been at the Chipping ever since!
I do plenty of minor surgery and joint injections, occasionally acupuncture. Earlier this year I completed a 12 week training course for using a dermatoscope which increases the chance of diagnosing skin cancer over the traditional 'naked eye method'. I am married to a very busy TV presenter Jackie who currently works for QVC. Outside interests include Jumps racing, playing golf and tennis, cycling and above all cooking (closet masterchef!).

I moved from Northern Ireland in 1981 to attend Bristol University qualifying in 1986. After house jobs in Torquay and Frenchay and a spell of infectious disease medicine at Ham Green Hospital in Bristol I did GP training in Bath and Midsomer Norton. I became a partner at the surgery on the same day as Rachael Hampson in 1996 but have lived in the area since 1987.
I have a passion about good quality contraceptive advice and fit coils and implants. I am responsible for staff issues at the surgery and am involved with our newly formed patient participation group. I am also Lead GP for Safeguarding Children. I am married and have four children and two dogs which keeps me busy outside work but I also love swimming and cooking!

As a young GP I feel fortunate to be working alongside my colleagues at The Chipping Surgery and in such a lovely area. My interests include women’s health and paediatrics.

I previously trained in general surgery & urology, and I retain a keen interest in these specialities. I very much enjoy the practical and procedural aspect of general practice and I would also like to be involved in minor surgery in the future.
I am a member of the Primary Care Urology Society and would like to be a GP with specialist interest in urology.
I have a wife and young baby and have recently moved to Thornbury from Bristol, we are very much enjoying living in South Gloucestershire.
My main interest away from medicine stems mainly from sport. My first love has always been football .
I am also a very enthusiastic runner, I enjoy sailing and have been awarded my Competent Crew certificate, I am also a very keen surfer.
